Houston-born Susan Sontag biographer looks for the full picture

Benjamin Moser lives in the Netherlands with his Dutch partner, but make no mistake: Houston is home. He grew up in West University Place, and his family’s Houston roots go back to the 19th century. “When you go abroad you realize how nice it is to be rooted somewhere,” says the author of the definitive new Susan Sontag biography Sontag: Her Life and Work. “It’s still home.” Moser will come home to discuss Sontag Monday at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. His focus: On Photography, a Sontag essay collection that looks at the difference between a person and the image of that person.
